This article covers device setup for both full tablets and limited QR codes. It also covers device movement, updates, and logs.
Before You Start
You must be a Project, Region, or Company Admin
The device needs stable internet
If using the HT Sign In app, confirm access through Google's Play Store or Apple's App Store
If using the browser sign-in, confirm the tablet can bookmark or save URLs to the home screen
Set Up a Full Sign-In Device Profile
Log in to HammerTech
Select the project
Go to Project Settings > Sign-In Devices
Click the blue + button
Choose Full – HT Sign-In App
Enter Name and Location
Click Create
Leave the screen open so you can scan the QR code on the tablet through the HT Sign In App.
Link a Tablet Using the Native App
Connect the tablet to Wi-Fi
Install HammerTech Sign-In App from Google Play or the App Store
Open the app
Tap Scan QR Code and scan the code from the device profile
– Or enter Domain, URL, and API Key manuallyAdjust the Visitors Only setting if appropriate
Tap Update Details
Set Up a Limited / Static QR Code
Project Settings > Sign-In Devices
Click +
Choose Limited – Printable
Enter Name and Location
Click Create
Download and print the QR code PDF
Note: The Limited/Static QR Code is for Visitor Sign Ins Only. If you need workers to sign in, they will need to use the HT Sign In App method.
How Visitors Use Static QR
Scan QR with their phone
Tap Sign In
Select employer or Other / Visitor
Enter details
Answer sign-in questions
Sign and finish
This method does not include sign-out, does not calculate hours, and does not display bulletins or meeting content.
Move a Device to Another Project
Create a new Full Sign-In device profile on the new project
Keep the QR code visible
On the tablet, open the Sign-In App
Tap the cog icon
Enter the 4-digit PIN from the old project’s device record (Code is 5-6-7-8).
Select Scan QR Code and scan the new project’s QR
Tap Update
Update the App (Native Install Only)
Android: open Google Play > search HammerTech > Update
iOS: open the App Store > search HammerTech > Update
If Open appears instead of Update, the app is current.
