AI Photo Evidence Recognition uses HammerTech Intelligence to compare unmatched Inspection Gallery photos with evidence-enabled checklist questions.
In the HammerTech interface, this feature is labelled Match, Photo Matching or HTI Matching.
Photo Matching can automatically attach high-confidence matches and present other possible matches for review.
What you'll need
- A HammerTech Intelligence subscription
- Inspection Photo Matching enabled for your company
- Access to the HammerTech Web App
- Access to the inspection
- At least one evidence-enabled checklist question
- Unmatched photos in the Inspection Gallery
Photo Matching is available in the Web App only.
Photos can be added to the Inspection Gallery using the Web App or native HammerTech mobile app. However, Photo Matching must be started from the Web App.
Before starting Photo Matching
Photo Matching can be run only once for each inspection.
Before starting:
- Add most or all inspection photos to the Inspection Gallery.
- Confirm that the relevant checklist questions have evidence enabled.
- Check that the photos are clear and relevant.
- Review the number of unmatched photos that will be processed.
HammerTech Intelligence can process up to 100 unmatched photos during the matching run.
Match Gallery photos to checklist questions
- Open the inspection in the HammerTech Web App.
- Select the photo count in the inspection toolbar to open the Inspection Gallery.
- Select Match.
- Review the information in the Photo Matching window.
- Select the checkbox confirming: I understand that HTI Matching can only be run once per inspection.
- Select Match [number] Photos.
The number shown on the button represents the unmatched Gallery photos that HammerTech Intelligence will process, up to a maximum of 100.
Users do not manually select individual photos for Photo Matching.
What happens during matching?
After matching starts:
- The toolbar displays Matching.
- HammerTech Intelligence continues processing if you close the Inspection Gallery or move elsewhere in the inspection.
- A notification confirms that processing is continuing.
Do not attempt to start another matching run. Photo Matching can be run only once for the inspection.
Review the results
HammerTech Intelligence compares the photos with the context of the evidence-enabled checklist questions.
Results can include:
- Automatically attached matches: High-confidence photos are attached automatically to relevant questions that do not already contain evidence.
- Suggested matches: Lower-confidence results are presented for a user to review and attach where appropriate.
- Unmatched photos: Photos without a suitable match remain in the Inspection Gallery.
Review all automatically attached photos and suggested matches before completing the inspection.
AI can make mistakes. Photo Matching assists with organising evidence but does not replace the user’s judgement or responsibility for confirming that the evidence is accurate and relevant.
The 100-photo limit
Photo Matching processes a maximum of the first 100 unmatched photos in the Inspection Gallery.
If the Gallery contains more than 100 unmatched photos:
- Only the first 100 are included in the Photo Matching run.
- The remaining photos stay in the Inspection Gallery.
- The remaining photos must be attached manually because Photo Matching cannot be run a second time for that inspection.
Photos already attached to checklist questions are not included in the unmatched-photo count.
If Match is not displayed
Check the following:
- You are using the HammerTech Web App rather than the mobile app.
- Your company has a HammerTech Intelligence subscription.
- Inspection Photo Matching is enabled.
- The inspection contains at least one evidence-enabled checklist question.
- The Inspection Gallery contains unmatched photos.
- Photo Matching has not already been run for the inspection.
If these conditions have been met and Match is still unavailable, contact HammerTech Support.

- Photo Matching is available to HammerTech Intelligence customers.
- It is available on the Web App only.
- It can be run only once per inspection.
- It automatically processes up to 100 unmatched Gallery photos.
- Users do not select individual photos for the matching run.
- High-confidence matches are attached automatically to questions without existing evidence.
- Other possible matches are presented as suggestions.
- Processing continues if the Inspection Gallery is closed.
- Every match and suggestion should be reviewed before completing the inspection.
