This guide explains how to set up a new sign-in device for a project. A sign-in device allows workers and visitors to quickly register their attendance by entering info on the device at the gate OR scanning a QR code displayed on the device and enterinfo on their own phone.
Sign-in details are automatically recorded and tracked in HammerTech, giving you real-time visibility of:
Who has signed in
The exact time of arrival
What device was used for sign in
Current on-site attendance

Sign-In Device Names: Better visibility across sign-in events and emergency reporting
We’ve made Sign-In Device Names visible in the record. When a worker signs in, HammerTech will now display the name of the device used for that sign-in event. This will give site teams more context at a glance and makes sign-in data easier to understand and act on.
Why this matters
On active sites, knowing who signed in is only part of the picture. Teams also need to know where that sign in happened.
By displaying the Sign-In Device Name against sign-in events, this release helps teams:
- quickly identify the sign-in location for each event
- improve visibility across multiple access points on site
- better reflect real-world site layouts such as compounds, gates, and buildings
- support faster review during incidents or emergency response
- filter sign in records more easily when reviewing attendance activity
How it works
The feature is designed to fit into existing workflows with minimal setup in HammerTech.
- The device name is configurable by project, allowing each site to use naming that makes sense for its layout and operations.
- Once configured, the name appears directly alongside sign-in events within HammerTech.
Where you’ll see it
Sign-In Device Names will appear in the places where location context is especially useful.
- Sign-In Book: the device name will display against sign-in events
- Sign-In Book filtering: teams can filter the sign-in book by device name
- Emergency Evac reports: the device name will be included in evacuation reporting
